Stracciatella-style Chocolate Cake

Equipment: Cake tin approx. 20 cm in diameter

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (or 180°C in a fan oven).
  2. Break 50 g of chocolate into small pieces and melt 150 g of chocolate in a bain-marie.
  3. Heat the butter in the microwave until melted.
  4. Mix the melted butter, eggs, flour, sugar, baking powder and vanilla sugar in a bowl. Separate the pastry into two parts.
  5. Mix the melted chocolate with one half of the pastry. Mix the other half with the chocolate pieces.
  6. Spread the two pastry types in alternate layers in a buttered tin.
  7. Cook in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
